10 Ways to Celebrate Your Success
“Becoming proud of yourself is the best gift you can give yourself.”
As we head into celebrations of the winter holidays, I encourage you not to forget to celebrate yourself. Your hard work this year has meant the world to so many—your clients, your colleagues, your communities.
If it feels weird to celebrate yourself, here are 10 ideas you might want to try:
Buy yourself a gift: doesn’t have to be big, just something you know you’ll love and that no one else may buy for you.
Eat or drink your favorite thing(s)—without guilt.
Decorate your workspace: a string of fairy lights, a new plant, a beautiful new journal.
Take a break: walk in nature or pause for coffee (or your favorite warm beverage).
Dance like no one’s watching: put on your favorite tune and go for it!
Make a certificate to hang on your wall: Canva has tons of templates to choose from.
Read something that has nothing to do with work.
Create a graphic that shows your achievement: Again, Canva is good for this. And everyone loves a chart with a line going up and to the right.
Tell a friend: Be sure one of your besties knows about your accomplishment, and let them celebrate with you!
Create a “Self-Congratulations” file: take a picture, print an email, or create some other memento of your success, and stash it in a file (real or virtual). This is a great thing to pull out when you’re having a challenge day/week/month.
These are just a few thoughts. I would love to hear what else you do to celebrate your successes. Drop your ideas in the comments below. Or let us know which of these you’re going to try!
