Give Me A Break!
Why not make sure you take care of yourself during this time when so much of our energies are focused on everyone and everything else? It can be helpful to book time in your calendar, and keep the appointment just like you would any other.
Taking a break can do wonders to refresh and recharge you—so that you can head into the new year feeling strong and excited about what’s ahead instead of crashing and burning.
To get you started, here are some things that I like to do when I need a break:
If I only have five minutes:
Get up and walk around my office, or around the block, or up and down my driveway.
Look out the window and watch the world go by. That faraway focus is super helpful if you’ve been staring at a screen.
If I have 30-60 minutes:
Take a walk on the beach, or through a park.
Knit, draw, or make art.
If I have half a day (usually do these on the weekend):
Bake something.
Read a novel.
I hope these inspire you to make your own list of Break Activities. Please feel free to drop your ideas into the comments—you may inspire someone else!
