Reflect To Stay On Track

Without reflection, we go blindly on our way, creating more unintended consequences, and failing to achieve anything useful.
— Margaret Wheatley

Do you ever wonder why you feel like you’re doing the same thing over and over? Like the end of every year is a massive pile of overwhelming work and you’re unprepared to change that or capitalize on the opportunities of a new year?

I used to feel the same way.

Then I got good at reflection. I started with an annual end-of-year lookback. I set aside a couple of hours in December to do this, and to plan for my new year. And when I noticed that I would get to the end of the year and completely forget about my big plans, I started to do monthly and weekly reflections. Nothing major, just check-ins to make sure I’m on track.

By implementing a regular reflection practice, I can not only stay on course to achieve my goals, but easily notice when things are going off the rails and I need to pivot. BONUS:  I can pivot before it’s too late.

Canva has a ton of templates for this. Here is one for a monthly reflection, and one for weekly reflection. If you’ve got a fave, please share it with us in the comments below.
